Welcome to my blog, aptly named “FIRE’d Up Father”. You’re in the right place if you want to learn about my (unfortunately ongoing) journey to become financially independent, retired early (FIRE). It is primarily a place for me to gather my thoughts on my journey, including how I got to where I am and what I hope to achieve. But, if it helps you, then that’s great too!

A little about me:

I am a millennial

I am an accountant

I am a husband

I am a father, and

I am fired up about financial independence!

To me, it’s a lot more about financial independence and having the freedom to live life on my own terms. Retirement means different things to different people so I focus less on that part. For some, it may be playing golf and watching TV all day. Not me! I think the ideal ‘retired’ life would involve some stimulating part-time work that I love (which may or may not pay) and involves helping other people, mixed with a lot of fun, rowing and boating, travel and family time.

I’m still trying to figure out what this dream ‘work’ would be, but in the meantime I am saving like crazy to get the FI part secured. I’ve made some great progress so far, but I have a long way to go! Target FI date at this point, while subject to change, is estimated to be January 2022.
